Full truckload shipping, or shortened to FTL, is a method of shipping, where one truck transports one cargo of one customer that has covered the expenses for the entire space of the trailer. Even if the cargo doesn’t fill up the entire trailer, FTL shipping still remains to be FTL – no other freight is allowed there since the entire space has been paid for. This also means that, in full truckload shipping, drivers almost never make additional stops, which fastens the transportation process and enhances customers’ trust for the transportation company – many customers tend to question the reputability of a company because of the extra time spent on the delivery.
The advantages that come with FTL shipping make it a dedicated shipping, which means that the customer’s cargo is exclusively and safely carried to the destination point. That said, the tendency of large and rich companies to opt for FTL shipping speaks for itself: FTL transportation entitles customers to having their freight kept intact and not potentially damaged by neighboring cargo of other clients. On top of that, FTL shipping is a one-shipment journey as the trailer is packed as much as the customer wants it.
